Even though just about every teacher I've had throughout my school years hammered the fact that we shouldn't plagiarize, I never really understand the entirety of what it meant to really plagiarize. I kind of always thought it was as basic as just literally copying and pasting someone's work word for word. Reading through the passage buries that idea, since there is multiple ways that what your doing could be classified under the umbrella that is plagiarism. Although I feel gaining influence from other people's work is sometimes necessary to create your own, there is a fine line between gaining insight on your own work through someone else, and straight up stealing their work. This passage goes over some of those questionable things and does a good job explaining what should and shouldn't be allowed in ones process of gaining information.
